IBBY Announces the 2014 Hans Christian Andersen Award

On March 15 and 16, 2014 the Jury meeting for the Hans Christian Andersen Award will take place at the International Youth Library in Munich. We feel honoured to host this important event and look forward to welcoming the jury members.
IBBY and the International Youth Library share a long history: Jella Lepman is the founder of both institutions. 1949 Jella Lepman opened the International Youth Library, in 1953 IBBY was registered as a non-profit organization in Zurich, Switzerland. The founding members included: Erich Kästner, Lisa Tetzner, Astrid Lindgren, Jo Tenfjord, Fritz Brunner, Bettina Hürlimann and Richard Bamberger.

HCAAThe Hans Christian Andersen Award is the highest international distinction given to authors and illustrators of children’s books.  Given every other year by IBBY, the Hans Christian Andersen Awards recognize lifelong achievement and are given to an author and an illustrator whose complete works have made an important, lasting contribution to children’s literature.
